Sorl

Partiful for the Nordics — a live, cross-platform events app I co-founded. I led the brand, design, and experience: the part that makes it feel premium and genuinely fun to use.

Facebook still owns events, but nobody enjoys the experience anymore — and the Nordics run on Swish and mobile pay. So we built a Nordic take on Partiful, a concept already validated in the US: a great-looking invite in seconds, RSVP with no app install, costs split over Swish. It's a founder project with my co-founder: he built the first version in Swift, we built the Flutter version together, and we shaped the business together — splitting focus, with me leading the brand, the art direction, and the experience, plus a good deal of the functionality. Built cross-platform on Flutter; live on the App Store today, with Google Play pending. Honest pin: Sorl has no in-app AI — it's simply a well-made product.

01The bet

A validated concept, a Nordic moat, and a friction nobody had removed.

The concept was already proven in the US, so the risk was low and the build was fast. The opening here is local: deep Swish and mobile-pay culture across Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and a collective fatigue with Facebook events — still the default, still disliked. The friction we set out to kill is the install: guests RSVP and register straight from a link, no app required. A light action feels heavy the moment there’s a barrier in front of it, and removing that barrier is most of the product.

Two Sorl screens: the shareable invite card with Dela and Bjud in actions, and the 'Sorlet är startat' launch screen. Guests RSVP straight from the link, no install.
02What I owned

The brand, the art direction, and the details that make it feel like a product.

We built it together, focused on different things — my co-founder on the foundation and the first Swift version, me on making it feel premium and fun. I rebranded it end to end — a new identity and palette — and built the invite system: gradient backgrounds, ready-made SVG patterns with swappable colors, your own photo or a camera shot, and GIFs, which are the most fun part and, to me, the differentiator. I shaped the public-versus-private event logic (including how expense-splitting and a behind-the-scenes accountant role work) and added update threads, so a host can broadcast or a group can build a vibe in the run-up. It’s the thesis I bring to everything: make something light feel instant and pleasant, because that’s what people remember.

The Sorl invite builder: a live event card with gradient, pattern, photo and GIF backgrounds, a colour picker, and an icon set.
Two Sorl screens: adding a new expense with even, shares, percent or exact splitting, and the expenses ledger that tallies each guest's share.
Role

Co-founder & builder — we split the work: my co-founder built the first Swift version and leads more of the business; I led the brand, the art direction, and the experience, and built a good deal of the functionality. We built the Flutter version, and shaped the business, together. A founder side-project, live as a first v1: judge it on the craft and the concept, not on traction yet.
